Building new frame up 1x9. Have bought a 105 SS rear http://www.rosebikes.co.uk/article/shimano-105-rear-derailleur-rd-5700-ss/aid:444061 from Rose as want to run road cassette. Intending to buy 9 speed Ultegra cassette. Website blurb on 105 says compatible with 8, 9 or 10 speed - but Shimano info with mech just talks about 10 speed chains.

So will this mech work with 9 speed chain (prefer to use SRAM with powerlink). If not will a (narrower?) 10 speed chain work with my 3/32" Surly ss chainring?
