[#2769089]

I've been going back and forth whether to buy a One One 456 Carbon, a Steel Inbred or a Ragley Piglet.

I'm just wondering if the 456 carbon for about £130-230 more is worth the 800g less weight of the steel frames and if 800 grams would have a significant effect on riding.

I bike aggressive XC on relatively flat ground but don't want a "too" heavy frame to hold me back from ripping around like I usually do.

At the moment I'm using an old Alloy frame. Stiff as heck.

Compare the carbon to ti if you want to feel better!

Get a test ride too - different rames ride differently, it's about more than weight. Also depends on your finishing kit - there may be cheaper ways to save 800gm if that's all that matters.

don't think of it in metric...1 and 3/4 pounds sounds like a lot more to me!

As above, it's not just about the weight, is it...

The ti looks nice too but out of my price range. I can't test em out as I'm in Sweden and everything here is a buttload more money wise. I'm siding with steel as I've ridden steel before and think thin tubing is sexier...mostly the weight that has been bugging me.

Piglet recommends a 120mm fork...110mm should be ok right?

Metric is the modern way 😉

The steel 456 is 5.5 lbs isnt it which is 2.5kg?

My C456 is a whisker under 1.4kg + protective tape etc which is more like 1kg saving.

I still wonder if I should have gone titanium for the extra £400 but the current ti ones are about 1.9kg so slap bang in the middle.

There is a new steel one coming out so expect swap outs and 44mm ID head tube so it might be a smidgen heavier than the old one or a tad less if they have managed to shave some weight in places.

I think I'm about to buy a C456. The standard one's a nice handling bike but there's something a bit dead and lumpen about them, especially considering the noise people make about the "steel feel".

Yeah, I'm anxiously waiting On-ones newest release. Might pick up an older Inbred then as I like to use a "doofer" when single speeding. We'll see.

I've also looked at Merlin's Rock Lobster 853 but the top tube seems short. I'd love my hometown's designed Cove Handjob but for the price might as well go with a Carbon 456.
