Hi all. I’m looking for a new helmet light and came across these apparently 8000 Lumen torches. I currently have a 900 Lumen version and find 8000 a bit hard to imagine.
will this really be 8000 Lumen ? Or even anywhere near that ?
Drop a zero and you'll be closer.
No chance
If you take the square root of 8000, that will give you the ball park actual number...
the theoretical max lumens of my hope R8+ is 4000lm. It’s measured at 3000lm due to it (and any light) not having a perfectly efficient system. It has 8 LEDs and a battery as big as my fist which lasts an hour on full power, then an hour at 50%. That has 1 LED and a battery the size of my pinky finger.
Your call...
This one is nearly 8000 lumens 🙂
The one in the link will be about 1000 absolute maximum..

The maximum theoretical lumen output of the XML-l2 in that torch is 1198 I think - according to the cree website. I suspect that would require a decent external pack to hit that figure too.
Should still be a bright torch but realistically if you get near 1000 lumens that would be a good effort.
And that battery won't be 4200 mah - I've got some expensive Panasonics that are 3400mah and that's about as big as you get.
Chinese Lumen - as said above, real lumens will be about 800 maximum.

if it does not look like this then it is not 8000 lupins
Bloody hell, is that a bat that has been set on fire or a plane with a pilot you have just blinded in the sky to the left?
I can't see any lupins there Trout....
😉
Jesus! Are you getting reflections back off the ground or is that just stuff starting to ignite?
Flower power... 😂
Ha Ha its an old Beam shot from about 10 years ago way too bright to be useful on the trail .
This is an 8000 lumen bastard ugly light I used at this years puffer
