a bike ๐Ÿ˜›

20-21" would be the std advice, but it also depends on how your bodies shapped, long or short legs?

Also the defactor advice is maybe also check out a 29-er, as they can fit tall buggers a lot better.

6'4" - 22" kona king, 20" sanderson ss, 21" scandal 29er geared HT.
Scandal 29er makes a lot of sense, looks right and feels fun. Better frames about for more $$ though

22" from memory with Fox Vanilla R forks.

Let me know if interested and I'll put you in touch as he doesn't post on here yet.

6'4" and ride a 19" Cotic Soda, which feels perfect, but friends say the post looks too long (technically it isn't), and a 22" Niner RIP9, which also seems to fit. Looks a bit of a gate though, even with te wagon wheels.

To avoid extra long stems, to avoid stacks of spacers or bars 6" below saddle height, to avoid being past maximum extension on the seat frame, which might be quite different to the maximum extension to the seat-post..

Have you short legs ? or do you ride with a very bent knee position.Im an inch taller than you and just squeeze onto a 20inch frame .Seat height 82cm seat rail to bb centre .A 400mm post is nearly long enough

6'4 and a bit. Ride a L/XL commencal supreme, a DMR drone (normal sized?) and an 18" marin hardtail.

I'll be taking delivery of a 20" OnOne summer season soon to replace the marin. I know it's closer to the correct size of frame for me but i'm a bit worried that i've bought a frame that's too big. Ever since riding a 22" diamondback about 20 years ago that was just horrible I've always rode bikes that were a little on the small side.

This guy's got a Giant Trance with a 46" frame ???? That should be big enough !!!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/giant-trance-advanced-carbon-fibre-mountain-bike-full-suspension-top-model-/130583131252?pt=UK_Bikes_GL&hash=item1e675c7474#ht_898wt_1185

I would look at 29ers though as they look a better fit on tall people.

6'3 and a bit. I ride a 19" with a 400mm post and 65mm stem. Just about get away with it. I like a slightly smaller frame, which isn't so easy when you have a 35" inside leg

"6'3" and a bit and ride a 16.5" or 17", I've never understood why you need a gate"
Really?
Or do you not ride more 'cross-county-ish elements' as much/as seriously? As in uphill saddle in a 'proper' pedalling position, flat out (still pedally) stuff, much fully saddle up descending? other instances where a fitting frame benefits over one 2/3 sizes too small?
Rather than just very chuckable and jumpable?

Me
6'3 (a short arse on this thread .. )
Large (19"?) Spesh SJer FSR
20" Sanderson
had a 21" Giant XTC
21.5" Trek 4100, used as a commuter/sort of tourer
'Large' (upto 6'1) Pinnacle Camino ..
May have a 19.5" El Guapo on the way

6'6"

Custom 29er hartail
xxl (20") kona coiler dee-lux which will be changed to a custom frame when finances allow.

Customs the way to go unless you want high rise bars, 30 degree stems and stacks of stem spacers!

16.5 or 17 what? c-c or c-t? To me it's ett length that's important, but even with a saddle height a few cm lower than yours (81cm to top of saddle) I think I'd struggle to get the saddle high enough on such a short ST.

6'5" 35" inside leg trousers

XL Singular Swift - 82cm saddle height (centre BB to top of saddle along the seat tube/post)
20" Inbred (26") - 82cm saddle height
20" Kona - 83cm saddle height
60cm CX bike - 83cm saddle height
61cm road bike - 84cm saddle height

Basically, top tube lengths of 24" - 25"ish for mtbs and 59-60cm for road
