frame? Or are some better than others for whacking a big wheel up the front? I only ask as I'm slowly building one of my own, but have a niggling doubt that once it's finished it'll actually be scheise to ride... I'm using a Singular 69er rigid fork which should help right?

If you can, would be interested to see your homemade 69ers, dudes ๐Ÿ™‚

You're thinking the wrong way around.

Start with a frame that takes "big" wheels and slap a small one in the rear.

Tried it with a BlurLT and it was horrible. BB height may be your biggest issue ๐Ÿ˜•

Currently it's around 11.5" with a big 2.5" tyre on the front and a teeny 1.95" on the back (need to sort this out!). Here's a pic of it so far...

**** me it's almost built.

Why not just slap a chain and pedals on then you can tell us how it rides.

need to get it to the LBS to get the brake hose swage thingos crimped (I don't have a vice), plus waiting for the powdercoat folk to fix my crankset (they accidentally coated the spindle, which means it won't fit through the BB!) Then it'll be finished... maybe next week ๐Ÿ™‚

Brakes. You don't need them to see how it rides round the carpark.

Just put some paint stripper on the spindle.

I'd be more interested in seing what it turned like than powdercoating and brakes.

I've got an old, tatty, Trek HT frame I built up as a run-a-round. Pretty sure the geometry is built around a 100mm sus fork, and as such the handling was *way* too twitchy with the short, rigid, steel fork I sourced for it. Rather than use a 100mm sus fork, I bought some cheapo 700c hybrid forks and stuck a 700c wheel on the front with a 47mm tyre.

Bingo. Rides a dream. Instant 69er ๐Ÿ˜€

Pic to follow.

Yes it is, still getting around to building it up (my how time flies!) ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Think that's the same with this frame, though might even be a designed for an 80mm fork... so hopefully the 69er fork will work out with it. Fingers crossed I'll know next week...

Here is mine - Ti4569er in commuter guise. 440mm 26" forks, plenty of clearance, rides fine. But 456 geometry might be quite different from your IF.

BTW, got my Forward Component EBB sorted & working (many thanks to Sideways Tim & Eric at FC) - BB needed chasing properly before installation, but that's for another thread. How about yours?

Same here, still a bit tight but it's gone in now thankfully (had to get Enigma to chase the BB for me, bit of a faff but sorted in the end ๐Ÿ™‚ )

Notice you're still using a tensioner in your pic, did the EBB not provide enough adjustment?
