Hey there.

Can anybody tell me if I can fit 650b (27,5 inch) wheels on a 2017 Kinesis Crosslight Pro6 V2 frameset?

Am I running into any problems here?

Best

It should work, 650b is smaller than 700c, where you may come unstuck is if you then try to put mountain bike tyres on.  650b isn’t exclusively a mountain bike wheelsize of course, so if your plan is road or CX tyres and you have s good source of them then this is a definite ‘goer’.

I’ve got a set of 650b Hope’s with high volume mtb tyres and a Crosslight 5T Disc,  I can try offering them up next week when I’m next home if you like?  The Kinesis has a pretty tight rear triangle though, assuming there’s even enough depth to accommodate the tyre height, without trying it  I suspect the rear seat stays will foul the tyre.

I reckon you'd struggle to fit anything significantly more voluminous in 650 to make it worth the trouble TBH. The chainstay clearance is the issue on the pro6 - its more an old skool cx than nu-skool gravelenture style bike.

Without going back and looking I’m inclined to agree that a 650b MTB tyre is probably a no-go.

The Kinesis may be a little old school but it’s a little rocketship compared to my previous proto-nu skool gravel bike, completely different category of machine.

oh yes, they're great bikes and fairly capable off road, just not blessed with generous tyre clearance.
