Trying to mount a rocket ron 2.8 on a WTB i35 rim but it's just not happening.
I normally just use a track pump to set my normal tyres up tubeless but I'm using a compressor and still can't get these to go up.

They inflate and seat OK around the valve but then the bead will not seat opposite the valve no matter what I do.

Any tips?

Lube your rim. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ
Washing up liquid and water should be fine.
Maybe a bit more pressure before the satisfying snap noise.

Already spraying with soapy water, may be I should use neat washing up liquid on the tyre bead?

Just up the pressure a bit.
Unless you've got about five layers of tape on the rim it should pop out just fine.

Have you tried fitting it with an inner tube first?

Do that. Leave it overnight. Break one bead, remove tube, fit valve.

Lube the rim is a good idea.

What tape are you using? Genuine Stans/WTB/Tesa type tape is nice and shiny and will help the bead along.

And you have fitted tape that's 40mm wide on those rims, yeah?

What size tape do you need?
WTB recommends using tape that is 5mm wider than your inner rim width.

Bring the tyres inside by a radiator, so they're warm & flexible before attempting, is my best tip for tubeless (or warm in a bucket of hot water)

Got the bugger on, air pressure on full and load of washing up liquid did the trick.Good tips over warming the tyre.
Tape was already fitted and does look shinny :-).
Never had any trouble with normal tyres and rims but this was my first go with plus tyres.

My experience with WTB Scrapers is that they can be very tight with certain tyres. I don't think it's anything to do with them being 650b+, just that WTB rims are on the large size so if you mix them wth a slightly tight tyre, things can get somewhat snug. Also, quite often if you just leave the tyre on overnight or even ride it, the bead will ease into place.

+1 for putting a tube in to get the bead seated, then unseat one side only to remove.

Had a devil of a job with one of mine earlier this year even with a compressor, this is what finally solved it.

I had similar problems with Maxxis 2.8" on scrapers.
I visited my mate who has an airshot.
Problem solved... ๐Ÿ˜€
