Looking for an MTB for my wife. Got a whole 650b bikes worth of parts, so it seems one approach would be to buy a frame to fit her.

Looking to spend about £350 or less.

Something designed for 100mm forks

Something fairly relaxed in geometry.

Any good suggestions?

Leon

Got to be 45650b for that money, i ran mine with 150mm forks but i believe the 4 in the 456 name refers to the fact it can take a 4inch/100mm fork and still appear fairly slack/rideable.

BFe 27.5 comes in £1 under budget. Shares it's geo with the soul so should be ok with 100mm forks.

I was looking at that XTC. She's 5'10", so I think Medium is about right. Worried it might be a bit racey and low slung.

Agree about harshness and weight though. Ideally looking for a reasonably light weight frame.

It might be worth selling your fork off! It would certainly open up your options for a more 120/140mm travel frame.
There are good deals on revelations/sektors/fox second hand in this travel range.
And then a trail frame to suit.

there do seem to be a lot more frames designed for 120mm forks.

I'd put that down to "trail" being more mid-market than "XC". If you're buying a 100mm travel bike you're most likely either beginner looking for an entry level bike for normal riding, or a super keen XC racer buying a frame only, so 100mm fame only options will tend to be expensive and racy. Where 120mm bikes are you're most likely 2nd step on the MTB path and by that point you've picked up enough tools/knowledge to build your own bike from bits.

I've a Genesis latitude 650B, it's a good bit of kit, the frames are sensible money.
