So it looks like my beloved 2006 Heckler 5 is dying from a worn pivot axle housing 🙁
Ideas for a 650b full sus replacement with 125-130mm travel? I only have the one bike 😮 for everything - canal tow path with the kids to the coffee shop, trail centres, 50km+ back country / highlands rides and biking into mountains for walking & winter climbing. And budget constrained - my non work life goes something like family, climbing (not necessarily in that order), mtb and i tend to be a bit fit & forget rahter than spending hours buffing my bottom bracket...
Over to you, singletrack cognoscenti...

ex-magazine shoot bike and a bit of a bargain with full M8000 XT, SLX brakes, tubeless wheels & tyres and a dropper post too.

Orange Four maybe?

But personally I'd get a 29er for the riding you describe. More capable for gnarly stuff and for the canal paths.

It appears to have disappeared from the UK line up but I always fancied a Santa Cruz Bantam. Rarer than rocking horse excrement but for a simple, rugged short travel full susser, it was attractive

I'd be very tempted by the Commencal Meta Trail, the Origin looks a steal for £1300 as the Xfusion shocks fitted are pretty decent and reliable. Upgrade as finances allow and that'd keep me happy.

ok, here's another dimension: looks like i can get a new frame from the current SC line up as a crash replacement... thoughts on carbon? would like to get 10 yrs out of whatever i get. or go for 4" SP aluminium, or 6" SP aluminium...?
