I'm perusing websites looking for a 650 wheel bike for an 8 year old, he's currently racing on a 24" wheel Bianchi and he needs something a bit bigger for next season. So far I've found Trek have one and planet x do a 650 time trial frame which might do. Cervelo RS looks nice but not the price tag...
Any other suggestions or ones I have missed?
Worth a look at Islabikes for decent quality children's bikes. Though it looks like they don't have 650C bike, but they do have a 26" road bike or a small 700C road bike. http://islabikes.co.uk/
Or the Edinburgh Bikes Revolution Flyer is 650C. http://www.edinburghbicycle.com/ebwPNLqrymode.a4p?f_ProductID=10346&f_FullProductVersion=1
What kind of size seat/top tube do you reckon he needs (children are a complete mystery to me).
I've got a 650b Cannondale R800 I've been trying to shift, possibly a bit on the big side though...
Forgot to say.. not an Isla, he wants a proper road bike, not knocking Isla bikes btw, his sister has one and they are great for what they are. That Revolution looks to be about the best I've seen for the money so far.
I wonder if Cervelo test team need an 8 year old to test the RS, cant quite justify spending £1600 on a frame, thats without the Zipp wheels he would need too.
Aidy he needs the top tube to be about 47cm and the seat tube about 44cm, if you can run the tape measure over it and if it's anywhere near please send some pics, email's in my profile.
Try giving Brdigetown cycles in Cannock a call - they had some really cool looking kids road bikes in their when I was last in. Was wishing my 3 yr old was just a touch older !
Have you had a look at womens bikes? My SO has a Trek ladies bike, because they are smaller, it's a Pilot 2.1, and she got hers in a 43cm frame.
All black as well, so would suit a wee one.
Most of the ladies stuff tends to be 700c wheels which can cause a problem with toe overlap, really looking for 650 as they accelerate quicker in the sprint... he's been watching the tour and him and his mate take turns in being Cavendish or Renshaw launching each other across the finish line.

(children are a complete mystery to me).
basically, they're very similar to human adults but smaller.
Just wanted to say totally agree !!!!
I am just over 5ft and had my road frame built for me some 15 years ago.
650 wheels are a must, toe lap is a real problem on 700 wheels when you are small.
My bike is a corrado (chap built for cougar when they were responsible for a Tour de France team). If they still exist definitley worth contacting them.
If you find the bike and want some spare wheels I have 2 sets of 650 wheels going ... one a race set, the other for training.
Best of luck.
