[Closed] 6 speed cassette with 9 speed mega range chainset

We have a pile of old and new bits and want to make a city hack from them.
The frame is an new unbranded mtb aluminium job picked up for 60 quid in the LBS clearout sale.
Crankset is an M582 LX 9 speed mega range of 2008 vintage.
The rear cassette is a 6 speed fitted to what I believe is a Campagnolo road hub that has an oiling port in the centre.
The chain is a 7 speed 1/2 x 3/32.
Will this drive line set up be compatible?
Will the road hub fit in the mtb frame or will it be too narrow?
It is more a case of using surplus parts up than building something special.
I know I could just chuck it all together and see but I wanted to get a feel for the plan before we crack on.
