Is the difference between 5700 & 6700 STI's like the night and day difference between SLX and XT shifters or is it much more subtle?

My 5600's LH lever just broke it's ratchet as they appear to have a habit of doing when used on doubles ๐Ÿ™

Never broken a LH shifter, they often go quite a while without being used though!

I'd not say a huge difference. I'd rather have 7800 than 6700 though.

Have found there is a difference between the 5700 and 6700, the 6700 feels better on the hoods (although that's always personal preference), and the Carbon levers have a nicer feel. As to functionality, not a lot between them.

One thing I have noticed with both 5700 & 6700 is the cable routing can be tight enough so the gear cables can fray at the entrance to the hoods which it can't on the olcer models due to the design.

There is definately a performance/feel difference between 5700 and 7900, having said that 5700 is really good stuff.... i would consider upgrading if a nominal amount, otherwise just match up.

From 105 to Ultrgra, the only thing I can notice is the carbon lever blades feel a bit nicer on the Ultegra. Mainly as they're not quite so cold to the touch. But otherwise, nothing of note.

105 really is good kit, I'd say very difficult to tell it apart functionally from Ultegra or Dura ace, just a slight weight penalty and a less flashy finish.

Cool ta, currently running 5700 on the summer road bike, so they are going to go on the cx and I'll just get another new set of 5700 for the summer road.
