Sell the SX and the fork.

Replace with Deore and a secondhand Pike or similar, and you've got a cracking bargain bike there.

I had a Whippet with pretty much the same build. SX is terrible, made of cheese and never worked properly from new, the brakes are adequate and that's about all, the wheels are reasonable but I managed to pull a spoke straight out of the rim with minor force. I imagine the forks are mince too.

Saying all that, it's a very good deal if you factor in changing a few parts.

I wish they would stop selling the full bike with crap kit, and just sell the frame at a knockdown £150/200!

I managed to do just that, got a mint, near new frame iff ebay for £200, and about to put 12 speed Deore on it, with a 130mm 2022 Revelation on the front bought from Alpkit off their Ebay site

Trying to justify ordering one of these to get a frame as mentioned above using N+4 maths....

What do we think the bits are realistically worth to punt on?
Fork - £180?
SX groupset £100?
WTB wheels (they're very heavy - I've had a set!) £90?
Level Brakes £70?
Tyres - Bin
Total £440

Bike is £630 including the £30 delivery cost

Frame + headset/BB/stem/saddle/bars/discs =£190

Is it worth the faff of trying to sell budget parts?

From experience budget parts are hard to shift 🙁

Even bits off an expensive road bike failed to sell at half rrp 🤷‍♂️

Just how would one size these if one is 5'7? Small is to 5'7 and medium is 5'7 up.

@stanstory I think 170 for the fork is very optimistic. I'd say £100

It is very tempting as I have some bird blank forks that would go brilliantly on it and I'd run it single speed.

I don’t think you’ll get much for SX kit - I’d probably keep the cassette and see if you can sell on the mech, shifter and cranks (assuming they’re powerspline ones). Grab a GX mech, shifter and chain + NX / Truvativ stylo or descendant 6000 cranks.

I think CRC had some Yaris on sale - didn’t really have a good look but seemed a decent price.

Just live with the wheels - they should be sturdy enough for starters.

Judy silvers won’t sell for much - at most £100 I’d think.
