For those worrying about replacing the batteries before they even arrive, some with batteries which cost more than the solarstorm, don't. I get around 2.5-4 hours out of each charge depending what beam power I run.

I've taken to discharging them in the fridge from time to time, to fully drain the battery after a long ride 😆

Milkyman: eBay sellers name is 360digital2011. Uk based and quick turnaround.

The single XML lights come with the headstrap. £18 each with all the bits. I just drop the battery into my camelback - the lead is plenty long enough.
My twin spot should be with me tomorrow from the same seller. From the pictures it looks like you don't get the headstrap with this one.

My XML is now retired haha you'll see what I mean when you compare them.

@ Wrightyson, I had another one dispatched on Friday, i'll keep the thread updated with shipping time scales.

You dont need to do that with Li-ion, they have no memory affect and you'll probably do more harm than good.
Also, if you're going to store them for a long time, you do need to store them with 40% charge and somewhere cold like the fridge if you want them to last. Li-ion dont like heat and will loose capacity if you store them somewhere warm, like a living room.

It's for head use, you can just use the light holder fixed to your lid.

afternoon all

what are the experiences so far of the bundled battery & charger? enough to get by with?

on lightmalls.com seems to be about £6 difference between the bundle, and the light by itself, so obviously thinking if its worth getting a balancing charger & new pack, or just to stick with the bundle for a while

MrMF

I thought for the sake of six quid it was worth a punt on the battery and charger. Haven't received it yet mind! 🙂

I've had 1.5 hours on full whack and nearly 3 hours (when I switched it off, but was on one blob remaining power) on medium.

Medium is more than enough light imo.

Battery pack and charger that came with it.

Does anyone know if the twin XML U2 will fit on the headband strap used for the T6?
Mine arrived today and seems very bright- waiting for rain to stop/darkness to test properly!

yes, should fit fine, though I'd still prefer an option that didn't sit the light so high on your helmet.

I think that's the seller I used - came with 3pin UK plug and rear light. A happy buyer here although I don't know how he fitted it all in the box as I sure as hell can't replicate it!

How about the "6000LM" one for just under £40 from the same seller?

I used mine for the first time last night, mounted to helmet with my old magicshine P7 on the bars, have ordered another one (from the link above, thanks!) to replace the P7 just now. Very impressed with the light on offer for such little money.

it was not as bright as my Troutie lumenator and did not have the spread either - that 2400 real lumens BTW.

Good value though for the price.

Just think what we were paying for less 3- 5 years ago 😯

It would appear the laws of supply and demand are in force. They've gone up by £5, still worth it I suppose 🙂

That would make my X2 out of date, and it hasn't arrived yet 😥

They're obviously China based but I note that in the returns info they say to return to their UK location so I expect that's how it's done.

@clubber that looks a bit to like my XML-T6 which i'm out of love with due to poor beam spread.

@felt X2 on the helmet x3 on the bars. x2 is more than adequate though, i'm just getting lumen greed now.

Heh, if that little 5x is running all those XMLs at full whack, it'll probably be a contest to find out whether the battery runs out before the light melts.

How soon has it generally taken for people to get their Solarstorms from the UK seller?
Probably RM or whoever being crap but was expecting mine on Weds...

Solarstorm just arrived - this thing is tiny.
Ordered Sunday night, delivered Thursday am recorded delivery.
Had a bit of a problem with the length of the wire - it's a lot shorter the my XML-T6s, which means it won't reach down to the adapted water bottle that the battery sits in. Had to cut the lead off an old charger, open up the light and solder it on in place of the original.

It looks like a lot of the UK ebay sellers are actually the same Crawley based outfit using several different user names. Probably acting as a middle man for somebody in China. No doubt they'll be doing the Solarstorm X3s in a couple of weeks.

Just arrived.
It's very small but very bright even in daylight.
First impressions are that it seems look good quality.
Ordered red and got black - not that it matters as it'll be on when it's dark anyway 😉

Just out of curiosity I hooked mine up to a multimeter to see what sort of power they're using.
Current draw for a single XML-T6 was 0.2A on low and 0.8A on high.
For the 2x U2 it's 0.2A, 0.9A and 2.0A on low, med and high.

So medium is using the same sort of power as high beam on the T6, which is good for around 2.5 hrs on the standard battery. You'll get less than an hour on high setting on the 2x U2, so if you just want to leave it on high all the time it's probably worth investing in some better quality batteries.

0.8A on high.. hmm.. I have an 11.8Ah battery. That should do nicely 🙂

Does anyone know if I should be able to use my T6 charger on my X2 battery?
My X2 came with a charger which has an American plug and I don't want to shed out for an adapter. 🙄

Sorry slightly off topic.

Adapters are £1 available from all good pound shops. Most shaver adapters will work. It'll also add a fuse which will help if it does go pop.

I used my light on the trails for the fist time tonight. After about an hour and three quarters it cut out. The switch was still in the green mode and I had been switching between the medium and high settings to conserve power.

Should I put this down to a first run/ charge glitch or is there something wrong with the light unit or the battery?
