Hi,
I have a friend who is looking for his first M.T.B. budget of £500.00 want something new not secondhand as he's only getting into sport.
any deals around at the moment?, noticed halfords had stuff on offer such as Carrera Fury's last month but not much on at moment.
Any recomendations / offers welcome
thanks
p.s. size medium 18"

i'd have to say carrera fury, mines taken more abuse than my body has been able to handle... great value, great reputation, always gets good reviews, its not twitchy and feel good on the ups as well as the downs.

mines a 18" too 🙂

other people with other bikes will be along to recommend their choices too no doubt 8)

Fury's are good value so are Decathlon Rockriders 5.1 (if you can find one), I'd suggest hanging on till Halfords next sale or even just asking if any deals are possible on the 2011 stock?
As they be wanting/needing to clear it for the 2012 stuff before too long.. and have heard if pushed, the store managers can (occasionally) be quite flexible.

Personally I'd invest in second hand, steel framed like the Prince Albert posted above. Not a big fan of aluminium hardtails.

Plus you'll get MUCH better spec for £500 buying second hand than new.

Actually that Dialled is a great spec for the money... knocks the socks off that Carrera imo.

bit over budget but quite a burly bike for the money... depends on what he wants to do, i guess.

I'd have a 17 inch Blink at the drop of a hat if I had the money in my pocket.

They look like great bikes. Like Konas of old, but new.

Some of the other bikes are great value too, if they have your size in.
