Anyone recommend a seatpost mounted (or other solution)mudguard for a 5, that can be used with one of those underseat topeak bags? my current cheapo one keeps catching on the tyre when on the bumpy stuff.

andy - I use an x-blade, however to allow the 5.5 inches of travel, the clamp is just under my saddle, so a bag wouldn't fit in there. It's all dependant on how much seat tube you have sticking up. One of the new Topeak Defenders might work - I have one of them on my hardtail and the clamp sits a lot lower (then again it would do as it doesn't need to havce 6 inches tyre clearance....)

....smaller frame ? -)

I've used a short-clamp Crudcatcher rear guard on a Five with no problems - it's stiff enough to not flap about which is probably the main thing. (The long-clamp version is much more flexy.)

Andy - whilst it's saddle height dependant, I just got the tape out - on my setup the x-blade has 5cm between the clamp and the saddle rails and the Topeak one has 6 on same bike with same tyre clearance
