my ss needs a new chainring it is an old xtr 5 arm crank does anyone know the pcd

i think it is from around 1999 blimey that 10 years old does that make it old skool?

That sounds like a 952 chainset, it had a choice of 4 arm and 5 arm spiders. I think the 5 arm would only go down to a 36 tooth middle ring, but it was some strange PCD anyway.
Middleburn used to do spiders to allow you to run normal rings, try CRC.

Yeah definitely a m952. CRC didn't have any when I replaced my outer ring a few weeks ago, so I bought from Petra Cycles who were very good.

How many teeth are you looking to run up front? You can have my old ring which is still in vgc and actually didn't really need replacing. 48T

It wasn't a strange size, it was a standard 'non-compact' or standard drive chain ring of old. The 4 arm M950s were unique. Shimano still make a few different options, so it shouldn't be difficult to track one down.

It's the same as a current road compact as well.
