[#8397130]

So iv just set my 10speed with a rear cassette up to 42 and with a narrow wide chainring 32T.

I seem to be getting resistance on the top ring when moving the pedal arms, its not rubbing on anything that I can see so a little confused as to why its no running freely

But its only when im pedaling slowly with hands it feels a little notchy, more noticeable when pedalling backwards

Is it an SLX clutch mech?

Mine was a pig to the extent I replaced it for an XT one.

Only happened with the clutch on though.

Failing that B tension screw wound in enough?

I ended up using a rad cage on the xt mech. everything has been solid since then. no reversed b screws and no derailment when pedaling backwards

It's what usually happens when I contribute to a thread.

A common complaint for any 42t cog user is that the chain comes off when you pedal backwards (i.e. it comes off "the rails")

It's a job best left to a well-set up and functioning derailleur

If I spin it backworks 1 hard spin it manages 1 full rotation

Is the chain the right length? I've had similar to this when the chain's been a couple of links too short.

I was just going to say did you lengthen the chain?
