Lovely when they're working but it can be a real pita getting all four piston to play nicely together when they're new.
Not needed, single piston works fine on the car, two is more than enough for a bike. 4 is pointless

Yes but in fairness they are are vacuum assisted by the engine ๐
Is your brain vaccum assisted?
4 is for pussies- you need to go with a Tokico 6-pot for proper servicing bastardry.

Haha, good one. Did your mum help you with that? ๐
Got two six pots on the tandem. Do I have to throw them away?
It's on a bike and they're new. I know from experience that they'll run better with some miles in them. It's just making me feel like I'm riding with the brakes on to hear all that rubbing coming from behind me.
I've only run four pots. Hope xc4, mono4, tech m4. Never had any problems with any of them. Easy enough to push the pistons out and clean
I spent yesterday messing with it. First I tried pushed the piston across as per the hope instructions. They crept back. Then I lubes the lazy piston and worked it in and out. No luck. Then I move piston and seals about as the two faster ones were on the same side. Then I polished and cleaned the slowest, fitted a new seal and lubed it. Still no luck. The really odd thing is, the lever has more free play than the front but the pads seem to have less clearance.
Then I gave up for the night.
I've been working with this model of brake for over ten years. Normally they're great. Lord knows what's going on with this one.
too much fluid in the system or air in there?
Shouldn't be any air in there. I'm bleeding through bottom up and using the syringe to suck air out of the caliper. Worked a treat on the front. It takes a couple of pumps after bleeding to bring the pads into contact with the disc so it's not a case of too much fluid.
