Trying 700s on the "gravel" bike again before deciding what to go for on a new one.

Gentle bimble in the Cairngorms with mates in the sun. Lungs didn't work too well in the 7am chill at the bothy but the warm air brought them to life.

Trip to Thornielee today with a few friends. bit steeper than I would probably have wanted for my first off road ride in 8 months. Stunning day and stunning trails even if I did fall off a couple of times.

Twas decreed that we weren't going on any proper adventures this year due to impending exams, so we chilled in the Lakes.

Did 3 lovely Scrambles in Langdale, 2 up
https://flic.kr/p/2orNFdi
then 1 down.
https://flic.kr/p/2orNFhb
Then Whinlatter for the " bad weather day"
https://flic.kr/p/2orKL8L
Followed by a quick descent of Sleet How.

https://flic.kr/p/2orKM79

Then bouldering at Chapel Stile
https://flic.kr/p/2orQFJU
Then a very chilled Keld/Loughrigg loop with me and the wean zooming off to try all the slabs we could find
https://flic.kr/p/2orQVhy
.

https://flic.kr/p/2orNEsq
.
https://flic.kr/p/2orKLYZ

Woulda preferred skiing or 'bleau, but sometimes you just gotta chill. 🙂

Glorious Good Friday, yet more south pennine road miles while I wait for a wheelbuild for my MTB. Blackstone Edge, Craggies for a brew and Stocks Lane, felt like summer!

Been a while since I've cycled Watchwood trails. LOTS of forestry has cleared an area big enough for a shopping centre!

Most jump lines (jumps at bottom of three main lines, and over the quarry end) have been bulldozed, but there are still some lovely tight bermy lines in amongst the trees.

40km of quiet back lanes and tracks. Short sleeves and no gloves for the first time in what feels like forever, hopefully get out again tomorrow and make the most of the weather.

Sunny day in the Yat. Some trails lovely and dry, a few off camber slippery madness. Good fun all round, rode a new trail (to me) with lots of slabs. Obviously took pics of the easy one 😉 Beer in the sunshine to finish.

Off to ride W2 at Afan tomorrow. Must be three years since we were last there.

The trails around us would have been absolutely chockablock with walkers yesterday, so I went on a bridleway/road potter down the valley on the hardtail. And very nice it was too

FInishing with this bloody lovely Italian cider Mrs Binners discovered in Morrisons

The road bike is off the turbo trainer and has been reunited with its back wheel and Ive my first road ride of the year planned for tomorrow morning

We took the eldest out, first ride in a while for her whilst she had been trying to strengthen her knee at the gym.

Went up onto Blacca Woods and Houndskirk Moor. Put a few laps in on Lady Cannings.

Sun was out and trails were fairly dry.
Not many out and about

@singlespedstu cycling is hard. A lie down every so often is often needed.

Cairngorms you say? If anyone meets a bloke with a smashed up face it might be my mate Kim. His partner messaged me to let me know he'd had a big OTB at speed. Give him a cheery wave from me please!

After a week away and off the bike went out today. Decided to skirt the eastern edges of the Peak District in an attempt to miss the throngs of people there. Worked pretty well.

Did manage to ride down a trail that was mostly river and tore a hole in my shorts! But was lovely to be out in the sun.

That's torn it

Field

Path or river?

Epic weather in the cairngorms:

Meh. It's always like that.

I almost ran up/down that route this morning but headed for Glen Eanaich instead.

Going to drag the boy up there tomorrow, maybe do another laraig ghru lap in the afternoon. Was a super fun descent although the traverse across from the lodge wasn’t so much fun.

It's slightly better in summer when the ground has dried out. TBH I tend to go up the descent route, usually avoiding the final bit.

Staying in Exmouth at the moment. Lovely loop including lots of Woodbury Common which was new to and great. It’s shown here. Fine on the gravel bike with these tyres. If you were just riding there an MTB would be better

Just a short local spin today, good to get out in the sunshine although it did seriously show up my complete lack of actual bike fitness!

Woke up feeling worse if anything from the recent virus with a new sore throat and STILL blocked ears, decided to go out for an hour for a recovery ride instead of the scheduled 3hr Turbo session.

Ended up enjoying the road bike, sun and dry roads so came back 3hrs later, its lovely out in Essex today:

First weekend ride since late November. NBD arranged for late May with Lifecycle.

Bike propped against a bank

Bike against a memorial

It appears that the pictured bike requires new rings, cassette, chain and jockey wheels.

@davros. What is the frame bag you have on your Occam? Is it a home made one? I assume you can fit the essentials in it.

@kendonagasaki it's the smallest size evoc bag, they may still be going cheap at merlin. I think it was £17 or thereabouts. It's quite versatile as there are lots of options for the strap placement. If you had a tube in there wouldn't be room for much else. Probably just a small tool. I just keep a tool and snacks in it.

@jeffl is that wet trail on the VB Linacre loop?

I think I recognise it from a reccy expedition a few weeks ago when I was supposed to be guiding a group round it.
