Hi, sure this has been asked in various different ways before but I'd appreciate some input!

Can I use 3 x 2.5mm spacers supplied with the Gusset ext24 on the drive side crank? Pretty please? I've read some who say it's bad news for bb shell (68mm steel) and cup, but it's done wonders for setting up my rear mech (which, with a short cage and 38t/11-36 setup, I feel is operating at the limits of its compatibility).

If 3 spacers must be avoided, are there other ways around the issue?

Rich

can you even get the right bearing preload if your BB is 75.5mm wide. Sure they "have" to be 73mm as a design parameter.

Done it before for similar reasons and it was fine.
Welshfarmer, with a 73mm bottom bracket you still run one spacer, so preload will be fine. Additional spacer is a throughback to e-type front mechs iirc.

Ta, I'm prepared to replace the bearings more frequently but I don't want to screw the shell threads
