[#7154335]

Afternoon all, I'm planning on changing my XX1 crank tooth number from 34T down to 30T for an up coming weeks trail riding in hilly Wales.

Q: Will i need to shorten the chain? I'd prefer not too for when I change back to the 34T for me normal riding conditions!

Many thanks,

Sam

See if it still has tension in the smallest sprocket.

Th billing is that you should be able to cope with it.
If not 32t comes in just a touch over 24x32 so not that bad

Yes, by 1 link. Well maybe you could try winding in the B tension all the way first, that might take up enough, but I would expect a 4T jump needs a link out. SRAM 11 speed mechs run very flat when wet up right, with only a tiny amount of clearance between the lower chain run and the upper jockey wheel in the 10T. That would mean its unlikely to like the extra link of slack as it will be running beyond horizontal.
