I need a shorter stem for my sons road bike the one I’m looking at is a Deda but it’s 31.7 & his bars are 31.8. When I searched about this .1mm difference what I read was Deda round down the size where everybody else rounds up & the actual measurement is 31.75 ?
Can anybody confirm this for me or have any experience of this ?

It isn’t. There are three bar sizes/standards. 25.4, 31.8 & 35mm. 0.05mm isn’t worth worrying about.

They will work fine, have used 31.7 deda stems with 31.8 bars without an issue. As TINAS confirms it's just difference brands marketing

Seems odd. Wonder how many sales they’ve missed because folk think it’s a different size.
