Building up an MMMbop tomorrow with some luck. All parts have arrived except the 31.6mm outer post for my Joplin (currently is a 30.9)

Could i shim it using a beer can so i can ride in the mean time? will it be thick enough/too thick?

personally, I'd wait for the right part or use another seat post until it arrives. Would be a shame to damage a new bike for something like that.

I used a Coke can. I think you'll need about 2 full shims to fit till you get the proper post.

Yep ๐Ÿ™‚

Cut it too long, but snip it at 5 mm intervals, flare the ends over so it hooks over the seat tube, whack the seatclamp over the top...it'll work fine and it wont sod off down into the tube and get stuck ๐Ÿ™‚

My thoughts too. Coke can shim until correct post arrives.

A special shim from the private stock of Baron Alfred Krupp, who had to sell it at a great sacrifice?
