Anyone seen some cracking deals? Need a "could get stolen, no great loss" commuting bike for the new job.

I am completely against building one beyond buying tyres and pedals.

Voodoo Marassa comes in at ~£301 using the Topcashback 10% Halfords discount code that ends tomorrow, combined with the 4.2% cashback.

If you wanted to a cheap entry to 27.5+ bikes, http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/mountain-bikes/carrera-vendetta-mens-mountain-bike comes in at ~£215. It has weaknesses and it is heavier than my Voodoo Wazoo, but not bad for the sale price.

If singlespeed is ok then the Vitus bikes from CRC look good value for money.

Have a trawl round on the Triton website, they usually have a decent range of this sort of thing.

Huh that Vitus Dee is pretty tempting at 300 quid. Disk brakes, slick frame, singlespeed.

I spotted one of those Vitus singlespeeds in the bike storage at work - very impressed, looks really nicely thought out and put together.

It's got to be the Mango Haden: Steel frame, Shimano Sora gears, rack and mudguard mounts, £299.99

The Mango own-brand stuff is made of cheese unfortunately, everyone I know that has one has had no end of bother with them.

Are you adverse to buying second hand? Decent road bike could be had for that money. What sort of commute is it? On-road/ canal towpath/ off-road/ all of the above?

Whatever BTwin road bike you can get from Decathlon within budget. Mines been great, £300 (+ a few upgrades as and when bits wear out), it's my 'Road Bike' let alone hack.

My old road bike?

It's like this Italian frame (from Merlin) wiv all good bits including DT Swiss wheels that aren't that old. Black and stealthy, apart from the white bits.
😀

Great bike and can arrange postage! Assuming you need a size L though!

Cheers everyone.

Currently skint but going to have fun at the out of town retail place.

Ride around on a Pinarello, buy a half price Carrera.

Singlespeed would be nice.
