I'm planning a 3 tower ride (Rivington pike, Jubilee tower & peel tower)
But I'm planning on visiting some of the monuments along the way
1) Holcombe moor - Pilgrims cross, Robin Hood's Well, Ellen Strange memorial.
2)Rivington/Winter Hill - Two Lads cairn, Scotchman's stump.
3)Darwen moor - ??
can anyone add any other monuments/places of interest along the way?
Bronze age stone circle on Cheetham moor (near Turton Tower) ๐
Bronze age tomb and also bronze age burial mound 'round loaf' both near the lead mines clough (close to Rivington)
cheers mate - just found this http://www.about-rivington.co.uk/acatalog/Round_Loaf_Prehistoric_Mound.html
Slight detour and take in Turton Tower. You could nip home for a brew!
The Irwell Works brewery.
This may sound stupid. But makes a lot of sense if you do it as a bivi ride. We even went out for a curry in Darwen ๐
When you thinking of doing it?
you Bivi'd, went on the piss and then for a curry? haha.
Sunday hopefully
Its the only way to do it! ๐
sure you didn't just wake up in a field after a heavy night? did your misses buy into this story?
She was the one who suggested the curry ๐
