It's a vast place and I only really know the South-Western corner well as it's close to where I live (Basel)... I would be happy to give detail on routes (or even "guide" if I'm available) around this part. Email is sapaudia AT gmail.

In terms of where to stay, because things are so spread out and there's no real focal point in the middle of the Schwarzwald, it's a tricky one. If you want somewhere with a bit of a buzz, bars, good atmosphere, restaurants, lots of other stuff to do... and still close to the trails, then Freiburg im Breisgau is probably your best bet.

Cool. If you're in Mulhouse then the Vosges are a must. Equally good as Black Forest for trails, and I know that area somewhat better.

Great video.

Was in Freiburg a few years ago for a tour through the Black Forest - lovely area. Didn't get to go biking - wish I had!

Great video.

Was in Schonach (near Triberg) in spring. Plenty of steep slopes and forest around there.

Managed a ride on a hire bike 1 day and really enjoyed it. Found some good trails but not quite the standard in your video ๐Ÿ™‚

I thought the area around Schluchsee looked like a good spot for biking when i was there on a day trip.
