Here's a heart warming story for you all, gives all us parents a glimmer of hope - a friend's lad has been an avid Fortnite player and like plenty of others it has turned in to an unhealthy addiction. However this 13 year old boy has had the insight and wisdom to recognise it and take action so has gone cold turkey and is selling his Xbox (and Fortnite account, apparently you can do that). Even better he has gotten really into MTB and is turning into a young ripper but is being a bit held back on a low end hardtail with crap forks. So he's saving all his funds, including proceeds from the Xbox and has a target of £450 for a decent 2nd hand FS. He has £300 so far so will be a little while yet, however if something good comes up his Dad will loan him the shortfall. Now his parents really aren't in any way minted so really not looking for a fixer upper requiring £££s spent but servicing including basic shock and fork overall, maybe a few bearings etc I can do.
He's 5ft now, undoubtedly got some growing to do in the not too distant future though as both his parents are a good height. Anyone got a suitable size small 26" FS they want to part with in the next few months?
Damn. If his budget was a bit more I have the perfect bike here for him.
(in perfect condition)
PM me if you're interested.
Over on rob's forum would be easier for pics etc. than this place
Cheers Gary, will drop you a message over there
Might be a bit old (on v-brakes) I have a Fisher Sugar 1 available for £100 ono.
£450 is a good amount for something like an old Yeti 575, (mate of mine paid around that for one for his son) or similar 26" full sus. Would've let mine go, but my lad is still using it.. if the Fox Factorys can be repaired. Gulp.
Er, and I can get him off Fortnite to go for a ride 😆
If you are near Bristol;
Are you a parent, carer or do you work with 14-17 year olds that you would like to see engaged in more physical activity.
We wanted to create more opportunities for young people who are currently inactive (get less than 30 mins exercise per week) to get out mountain biking. And we have some funded spaces available in our new club!
In partnership with West of England Sport Trust (Wesport) we are starting a weekly after school mountain bike club.

My son is about to sell his Trek Fuel Ex 7 (I think it is 15.5 Small Frame) which sounds ideal. It was perfect for him but he is moving on and upgrading.
It is 1*10 Deore hydro brakes, 32 hope front, 11-40
Shimano XT RD-M786 Shadow Plus Rear Derailleur
Front Rockshox Reba SL Dual Air
Rear Rockshox
Has Reverb Dropper recently bled and working great
Gravity bars 78cm with zero Renthal stem
26' wheels with few dings but working fine
Front Hans Dampf Rear Nobby Nic
Weighs 11.8kg without pedals IIRC
Last shock service and strip was prev owner August 2018
In early Feb we bled dropper/new cassette and chain/new gear cable/ new RD/ re torqued and greased screws etc. (He is learning how to maintain his bike..)
There is some play in the headset, wheel and frame bearings as it is an older bike. Not worth replacing for us as was clear he was moving on. LBS checked them around 3m ago as not my area of expertise...
Let me know if you are interested. It is a great bike, very light and ideally set up for the smaller rider. He has certainly improved his skills way more than friends who are on bikes "to grow into". He would be looking for around £450 I reckon..I have said up to him to sell but I'm helping..
Shame, I've a Gary Fisher Roscoe to sell and I don't want that much for it, but it's a medium 🙁
Prob too big, but this sort of thing -
