If I put 700cc road wheels on a 29er mtb frame will the rims be in the right place for the v brakes to work?

Rims are exactly the same bead seat diameter - 622mm. Brakes may well need some adjusting due to width of rim and depth of rim walls, but they will work.

Yes, it'll be fine. Unless you talk to the Irish Trek importers who tell you 29er wheels are actually 29" in diameter ๐Ÿ˜€

it will be fine 29er is just a marketing ploy to sell another type of bike in a saturated market

Road hubs have a 130mm rear spacing so you will need a MTB hub for the frame.

Only issue I've had is when running wide 29er tyres on 700c rims, where the brake arms rub the tyre when the pads are even slightly worn.
