[#428019]

I thought it would be easy, got myself a 29er frame and wheel set. Ordered a set of road-type tyres from CRC '29er tyre' page and they are far too big. They are sized as (28 * 1.5, 700 * 38B). I even checked the wheels to make sure they are not 26 inch. What size am I meant to be looking for?? and why have CRC put these in their 29er section if they do not fit??

if your wheels are 700c the tyres should fit.

They are on-ones standard 29er.

as ton says.

you sure your wheels arent 650B or something odd like that? What's the bead seat diameter?

are 28" wheels the same as 700c - I thought the 28's were slightly larger diameter?

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Categories.aspx?CategoryID=798

all the tyres on the 29r page will fit 700c wheels.

but this one lists 28" and 700c sizes (not from 29er page, though);

I'd have to measure the BSD, as there arent any details on O-O site. I have always run 26 inch wheels so I'm sorry for lack of knowledge, but it seems a bit complicated. Wheels bought as 29er's, tyres bought as 29er's and they dont match. perhaps the wheels shrunk with all the rain around.

sorry, I mis-read. If they are standard On-One reetard 29er rims, then they are 29er wheels. no two ways about it.

What does it say on the tyres? 700x38B?

it looks like you may have bought some 635mm ERD tyres.

yes, the 'B' on the end is the problem, you need 'C'.

back to crc with them, I'd say?

I spent the lunch time going through some old road tyres and yes youre right, the 'B' seems to be the problem, I've stuck some 700*25C on it and theres no problem, Do CRC do returns??
