Take 2
I want to build a 29er as a race bike for next year, if the 29er experiment is successful then I will probably convert it to singlespeed for winter and use it for bikepacking in summer, and replace it with a canyon carbon bike for racing.
So my initial requirements are something that is reasonably stiff (I have fallen out of love with the steel zing therefore probably alloy) and easily convertible to singlespeed.
Any sugestions
Scandal, its everything you ask, its cheap and the geometry is spot on.
Nah, straight in with a niner air9c rdo!
scandal as above
ah yes scandal is the obvious answer, I hadn't realised they had the swapouts.
Is the anodised finish worth the extra money?
Yeah I think I'm going to get a Scandal to use as my SS race bike. As far as the anodised finish I wouldn't bother personally as it is not as though you have to protect the frame from corrosion particulary.
Anodized finish is lighter and tougher than paint, each to their own though.
Cheeky plug - I have a large scandal i am about to sell if you are interested drop me a mail it is ano black. About a year old.
Really nice to ride but I have gone the opposite way and got steel.
Cheers
