Is there such a thing as road tyres that fit 29er MTB wheels?

If so, what make etc or can anyone give me any feedback from personal experience?

Cheers
Gary

700c is the same diameter, depending on the width of your rim you could go down as small as a 700x28.

Ive just fitted some 700x35 Panaracer Paselas to some 29er wheels and they look cracking.

Yep. they're called road tyres.

Depending on the width of your 20er rims, you might get away with something as narrow as 700x28. However, it's more likely you want to be looking at 32 and up.

I just stuck some Schwalbe Marathons (700x35c I think) on some 29er wheels for the about town bike.

Am running Marathon Plus 28c tyres on Mach1 250 Disc rims on my Kaffenbak (built it before disc hubs appeared on CX kit)
they are 622x19c (19mm internal width) and Mach1 state 28mm to 62mm tyres

For comparison
Shimano R500s are 700x15c and Shimano recommend 19mm to 28mm tyres.

Stans Arch EX are 21mm internal and Stan doens't give a tyre size recommendation... But probably looking at 32mm tyres as a starting point for narrowness at a guess (working on the basis of roughly 10mm wider tyre than rim inner width)

I hope so! I was running 28c Conti road tyres on my Roadrat for about 4 years on MTB rims.

As above, just take a look at the internal diameter, and compare to a 'road' rim, to give you an idea of likely profile.

I've fitted some 32mm continental top contacts to a stans arch. On the the basis that it's a 19mm rim I thought it would be fine but it was a tyre lever job to get the last bit of bead onto the rim.
There been a few threads about people having trouble getting cross tyres (700c) onto 29r rims. Some combos work better than others but that's the same for any rim and tyre.

There's even a specific name for 29ers running road tyres.

They're called hybrids.

I used Conti Gatorskin 25c and Grand Prix 4 Season 28c (favourites) on Mavic TN719 29er rims, which were fitted to my "road" bike. (Drops, discs, road / MTB parts mix).

Most 29er MTB will take these (slightly wider) road tyres.

That said, I'm now using Stans Crest rims, which won't take anything below 35c width (due to tight fit of wide / tall rim) and hence I've got Conti Cyclocross Speed 35c folding.

If I want to use narrower tyres, I'll need to change rims. The good news is that 35c cyclocross tyres aren't that draggy and add a welcome level of comfort and amazing cornering grip on asphalt.

FTFY - road rims are getting wider, you'd be fine with 'normal' road tyres on certain MTB rims. 28 is probably a sensible compromise though.

Schwalbe Koajks are perfect for wide rim 29ers.

I agree with njee. I ran 25mm gp4seasons on Crest 29ers with no problems. Gone to 28s now just to see if there's any difference in comfort.
