This may be a stupid question, but I really want to add a 29er to my bike collection, and with a new job I feel I can justify the spend (as long as the OH is reading this thread)
My primary concern is that I'm an average height girl, but I have rather short legs and a long back, am I going to find a 29er impossible to ride?
Thanks
Don't see why not. Lots of average height folk ride 29ers. Friend who is 5ft 3" in his socks got on fine. There seem to be a number of lady xc racers on 29ers.
Thanks Daisy - hearing that someone 5'3 managed ok gives me some hope - oooh time to look at what new toy to get ๐
A girl that ride with me has just bought a Giant XTC 29er in small and loves it, Just like with any bike try a few and you'll find one you like.
I have the Pace RC129 and love it. I'm pretty sure they have a small demo. Sophie who works there is usually bombing round on it.
If she buys a 129 there will be a revolution in the house, you mark my words!
I'm sure you'll be able to - you just maybe need to try it to see if you like it.
The standard response for short riders on 29ers question (not that you're really short by the sounds of it) is this bike:

(and welcome back BTW!)
Thanks clubber - did wonder if any of the oldies would remember me.
I do like the look of the Giant, and i know the geometery works for me, I think I may have to see if I can get a demo of that and the Trek, as the Spec bikes just never fit me well.
