Does anyone do a 28t (and is there stock anywhere if so) thick thin chain ring either for 88bcd (M985) or 104bcd? I'd like to remain 1x10 but [s]suspect[/s] know I need something a bit spinnier for my forthcoming 12hr events.
No.
Your chain line would be a bit odd with it anyway on a 88bcd.
Just get a 32t Works Component, and a 42t onupComponents rear ring. Huge range then, and no sacrifice. It's what I've got, and it's pretty equivalent to having the top end of a 24x32 (actually it's the exact same as a 24/31.5 - so a tiny bit less).

Meh, I ran a (36) single on my M985s and it was fine - used the outer position, was probably a couple of MM further out than with a triple, but my XCX chainguide didn't rub, and that wasn't ajustable in that plane which suggests the difference was small.
You won't get one for 104 though - too small, even 30t ones need to be offset.
Pretty sure that Absolute Black do a 28 tooth 64BCD ring - it bolts to the inner ring bolt holes on a Shimano chainset.
You can still run a 104BCD bash ring with a set of short bolts if needed.
Raceface do a 30tooth that goes straight on to a 104 spacing!!
Crc have them in most colours.
Bats.
30t wolftooth works fine on the m985 but a 28t would be better.
Damn it! Go 32t, and whack a 42t rear on, you keep the low range for those fireroad blasts you'll need to hoon to win your races ๐
28t a 11t rear, you'll be spinning like mad!
Njee - I misread, I thought he meant a 64bcd - which would mess up the chainline.
ChCh based Revolution Components do a 28t one to bolt in to a 104 BCD. I had a look at one and there's not an awful lot of material left between the bottom of the groove and the hole, but it's certainly possible.
They may mount slightly differently to most? They bolt on to a double-specific crankset and don't use those annoying spinny flanges to retain them.
