Hi all
Looking to upgrade my fork on a carbon 456 -so a 26er.
Currently running a 140 mm travel fox 32 (26) on it. Was thinking of getting a 27.5 pike at 150mm travel so that eventually I’ll only need to change wheels and frame in the future. I fancy it a bit slacker so assume this will work to slacken it by a degree or so looking at axle-crown length.

Does this seem reasonable or will I certainly die in a fireball of mixed wheelsizes?

Done it for 4 years on my 26er FS bike with a Pike... worked well & nothing broke 😁. Think it was only 10mm a2c difference anyway. Go for it

@ahsat has been running her Spitfire with 650b forks since it was built a few years back. The intention was to eventually change to 650 inc the dropouts but it’s never happened

been running a mattoc pro 2 in 650b form on my suppressor for a while. no real issues I can think of unless you are sensitive to the change in offset.

Hasn't this been done to (fiery) death?

Only thing I noticed was slightly more clearance for the mudguard.

Ran a 130mm 27.5” fork on a 2011 trek fuel for a while. Didn’t notice any difference compared to the previous 130mm 26er I had on it before.

Axle to rown varies between brands as much as the difference between 26 and 27.5

Will be fine

interesting and timely thread, any thoughts as to running 27.5 forks and wheel on a 26er FS ?

A quick look suggests moving from RS Lyrics (26) to RS Pikes (27.5) plus 27.5 wheel and tyre, will add 20-30mm, maybe a touch more, so about 1" slacker.

Should be lighter though, which always helps.

I’m currently running Marzocchi 350 NCR forks with a 27.5” wheel on a Liteville 301, with 26” rear. To be honest, other than a slight loss of weight, I don’t notice much difference compared to a 26” wheel and Marzocchi 55 RC3 Ti forks.
Or, to put it another way, if I only had one or the other set-up I’d be more than happy.
It’s all a trade-off - the 55 RC3 is probably a better fork but heavier than the 350 NCR...

MRP stage 27.5 at 150 on my 26in pivot Mach 5.7.
I’m not dead, or on fire or anything.

I wouldn’t necessarily buy MRP forks though, but that’s a different tale!

That’s fine, it’s 26in forks on a 27.5 frame that’s the fiery death risk.
