[Closed] 26er wheels (2nd hand) - worth looking beyond Arch or Flow EX?

Much as I'd love a new bike, it's not realistically going to happen for a couple of years so I'm looking at a replacement 2nd hand wheelset. Current set are 26" Bontrager Rhythm Comps which have done well but are now showing their age.

I've also got one eye on building up a 26" bike for my son when he's bigger so wanted something future proof-ish. I was thinking something like a set of Arch EX on Hope Pro 2 Evos.

I know they're not the widest rims now but I'm only running the likes of 2.3 Butcher/Purg (tubeless). I do ride in the Peak/Lakes/N Wales but am a wheels on the ground type.

My knowledge is pretty out of date so is there anything else worth considering?

Just on the off chance would you be interested in a set of Easton EA70 XCT ?

I replaced a flow (not the ex version) with a wtb st i25 when I killed it and it’s still going strong 3 years later. Same dimensions as a flow ex if I recall and pretty cheap at the time. Got a pair of them laced to hope pro 2s. Other bike has arch ex and they are more flexy in comparison. Not selling my wheels just yet though!

I've got a set of 26 mavic 823 (I think, could be 523) that will still be here when the apocalypse happens. Bombproof.

Depending on how heavy you are and how heavy you ride then Arch EX are quite strong and lighter than the Flow from what I remember.

Focus more on getting some decent hubs in the wheelset as when you pringle a rim the wheel can just be rebuilt.

I second the WTB vote, my 26er got new wheels last year or so and WTB rims were similar dimensions to Arch but about half the price.

Thanks for all of the input, really helpful. The WTB i25s sound interesting, I'll add them into the mix and have a look around.

Thanks also for the offers, I'll hang fire on them for now but appreciate the thought.
