Hi,
I’m building up an old Dirty Jo F-Creme frame for my 11 year old daughter. She is getting more confident round Glentress (or was before we locked down again) so I want to put a set of lightish air forks on. However, having issues finding 26” straight steerer aid forks.
What do you guys reckon? Cheap tat that should be avoided like the plague or worth a punt? 32mm aluminium stanchions and <1.7kg seems ok.
Any other alternatives around I may have missed?
The other option will be to hunt around on eBay etc for a second hand set of Sids or similar.

I have old rockshock Judy 85-115. They are spring one side air other with a medium spring. Is mount disc brake and v brake mount compatible. £60 plus postage. If your interested I can send pics. Not been used much but obviously old. Very long straight steerer.

Before I look at second hand I was hoping someone may have taken a punt on the Air Bike cheapo air forks (or the other versions on eBay that seem to be the same thing with different stickers) and could give some feedback. Or are there any other cheap, new 26” forks that are worth looking at?
Not new but some old Zocchi MXRs may fit the bill. Seem to be consistently around 60 quid whenever I see them. I have a set in the loft (destined for a bike) I could weigh if you like.
Failing that some old Revs or Rebas would be pretty futureproof, we have both and my Revs are better but the Rebas managed the Golfie whilst the Revs were in bits. (Revs are dual and Rebas solo). Just check for stanchion wear as they can get buggered if you don't service them.
Not sure about the 'no brand' forks in your link, chances are they just look like suspension forks.
I'd lean towards known-good models - SID / Reba - also old Manitou forks are excellent, Skareb, R7 _not_ old Fox forks, they seem to suffer stanchion wear.
Not many bargains but there are a few on eBay Manitou Skareb under 1.5Kg
I got some RS Recon TK Silver from Decathlon last year when building up a bike for the boy. Think they were about £120-130.
I had the same task a couple of months ago. For the best bang for buck I got a set of X Fusion Enix forks shipped from the US. Can't seem to find them in eBay right now. They were around £230 all in. Travel is internally adjustable.
RSF in plymouth has been posting recently about steerer swaps. ie taking out the tapered and pressing in a new straight steerer. might be an option if you already have some good tapered forks.
Look on youtube for "chinese suspension fork" for some video reviews, they are branded all kinds of things like lutu, pasak etc
I'd get some of of those genuine manitous with straight steerer off aliexpress

Stirling Bike Doctor does steerer swaps as well. Probably a bit handier than Plymouth.
