I have just bought a 36t chainring to run a double and bash set up, and was wondering if a 26t inner would be a better option than a 22t and 36t.

I very rarely use the smallest gears on the 22t just now.

Are you using a 26t 36t set up?

Thanks.

Innes

I changed rear cassette from 32 to 34, when I went to 36/26 from 22/32/42(3x9) triple (used the adjuster screw on front mech, works great).
26t front was fine, lost the equivalent of 1st gear only.
Definitely was good move, makes more sense now; 26t for going up, 36t for coming back down, no silly changes half way through.

I use 22/36 bash. I don't often use the very bottom gear but I do someimes. No great disadvantage to retaining it. i tend to change tot eh granny ring early on climbs and use 1 - 6 gears

I just bought a 26t inner to replace the 22t on my 36/22 frankendouble which was bodged together from an old triple and a 36t ring. The difference between the two rings is too large with standard rings on my cranks, so I get massive horrible chainsuck in anything other than the lowest two gears on the inner ring. I'm hoping that the 26t will fix this.

Obviously it is possible to run 36/22, there's the SLX double for example, but I think it uses a double specific 36T ring?
