I have been lucky enough to get hold of a front wheel that comes with a 200mm disc on it. Does this mean I need a 203mm adapter to get it to work? or do I have to track down a 200mm adapter?

Well, assuming it's been made exactly to spec it's 3mm larger across, so only 1.5mm on each side (if you see what I mean). Personally, I'd take a washer etc out from the adapter mounts and call it good enough.

Yes Junkyard, seems like the right thing to do. However it is a 5 bolt disc.

I thought the 5 bolt rotors were 205 mm. Certainly the ones are on my enduro 4 calipers. Still, 2.5mm on the radius is not much. I plan to fit some 165mm rotors to some Avid BB7 road calipers (that normally take 160) and fine tune it with a couple of washers.

As long as you've got >1mm clearance between the edge of the disc & the caliper (for expansion) it should be fine.

Try it and see. What's the worst that could happen?

Running a 183disc on a 185 adapter, no trouble here.
