Hi all, I was looking at getting the rock shox upgrade kit for my 140 mm Pike up front, and my Monarch RT3 rear shock (2016 Smuggler frame). I just want a bit more life and pop and spring back in to it, and get some extra small bump performance. What can I expect from the upgrade kit? I’ve always ran the rear end at 30% sag, but it’s just not feeling as good as it used to.
Or do I need to consider upgrading the shock or fork? Please don’t say new bike, lol.
If it felt good to you previously then just get a full service.
I chased gains with the charger 2.1 damper, 2019 then 2021 air spring, MegNeg air can. It was better but still wasn’t what I was after, so be careful.
Interesting, thanks. I probably should have added in that both fork and shock have had a service in about the last six months, with not a huge amount of riding. But just still didn’t feel right after the service - not what I was looking for as you put it.
Same here with mine, admittedly it hardly gets used, but I have been on it 3-4 times over the past 2 weeks, the last was 2 laps of Ae yesterday and it felt horrible. No small bump at all, even on 21/23 tyre pressures, it seemed to be bouncing off everything rather than being compliant.
I don't recall it being like that, before, Although its 12 months since it last got used 🙁
Service / custom tune is probably the sensible choice. I threw money at it and I’ve ended up happy, but with budget parts (comparatively) and spent thousands getting there!
Speak to one of the good suspension shops. My new forks were setup by jtech before delivery according to weight, riding style etc and they are spot on.
