[Closed] 2015 Specialized Enduro 29er – Shock upgrade

Hi all,

I’m looking to upgrade the standard shock on my 2015 spec endure 29er, it’s currently got the FOX Float CTD 216x64mm.

The entire bike feels great, except I can’t get on with the shock. I’m quite a heavy rider at 15stone / 95.25 kg / 210lbs so I was looking at trying a coil shock ( not too bothered about the extra weight)

What are my options here? Will I need a custom yoke?
Would something like this fit and be any good?

or will I need to spend a lot more cash for something like this:

Any info welcome ?

cheers

Has your current shock got proprietary specialized mount type shock shaft?

If so, and you want to widen your range of shock options, have a look at bike-yoke. I just fitted one of their yokes to my 2016 stumpjumper, and was then able to fit a standard eyelet shock. You need to spec a slightly shorter eye to eye shock when using one of their yokes though.

Talk to specialised dealers what options they can get. I think that there are both ck and ohlins coil shocks available for the enduro.

These guys do a custom yolk that means you can use any 200x57 shock

https://www.bikeyoke.de/en/specialized-enduro-2013-2016-29.html

Also I think mojo do some custom options of fox shocks for enduro's.

But I don't think there will be any cheap options available to you.

I think you will have more options readily available to fit an enduro than I had for a stumpjumper. I've seen lots around with Ohlins coils, rockshox monarch+ and heard of folk getting fox X2's that all have the specialized type mount.

Just fitted van x2 to mine, still tweaking it but it's light years ahead of the dbinline it replaced. I am only 11.5st wet though.

DVO are bringing out a shock that will fit the Spesh mount. No idea on timing though

Look carefully at the spring rate you're going to need - at your weight for that length of shock, you may want 650 or 700 and that may not be readily available
