Anyone else found the new batch of 2013 Schwalbe Rocket Rons a complete and utter c*ck to get on to 29er rims tubeless? (I assume their 2013 versions as they have fancy new graphics on them)

I'm trying to fit them onto some Stan's Flows and the bead will just not take, flops around in the middle of the rim like a jellyfish. I managed to get one side to seat by blowing them up with a tube inside but the other won't take, despite trying soapy water, blowing it up with a tube in, swearing at it, talking to it nicely, etc.

Time to find a ma-hoosive compressor I guess

Go around the rim with a tyre lever coaxing it into the bead, 60% of the time it works every time.

I just stuck a pair on American Classics 29ers.....they went on fine with a tube then tube out and neat fairy liquid. Might be 2012 as no change in the graphics.

Not being much help to you, mine worked fine sorry.

What tape have you got on? Might be worth double wrapping to take up the slack so that the bead sits closer to the rim - less room for air to escape.

Not that this helps, different tyre but a Schwalbe on a Stans rim. My 29er Racing Ralphs went on to ZTR crest 29ers rims without a hitch. I even ditched the stan's tape and used good old fashioned elect tape and an old presta valve from a burst inner tube. I do however use a compressor...

Ditto.

I've successfully used this technique recently with various schwalbe tyres plus Stan's, Easton, DT.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I tried the tyre lever but to no avail.

Finally got them on by using a compressor. Never had an issue getting Schwalbe's on before but these ones where a right bar steward.
