OK , so went to look at a different bike today and spotted an Epic Comp at half its retail price ! Its an ex demo but looks almost new and would save me £700 on what I was initially looking at. No compromise on spec either .
I'm after a bit of feedback from riders as to how you rate them. Didn't get the opportunity to ride it as it was snowing hard but the fit felt good. Does the brain shock work well ?
I'll be using it for cross country , trail centres and the odd visit to the Peaks etc .
Never ridden a 29er and my last full suss bike had 130mm travel as opposed to the Epics 100 , am I right in thinking that the difference will be minimal when you take into account the effect of the bigger rims ?
Any feedback be great .
Cheers
Not ridden 29er epic but I find the brain shock works well. It would probably be working better if I got my finger out and serviced it.
Tried a carbon Epic at QECP when it was quite greasy. i'm only 5'4" and did not have much time on it, and never ridden a 29er before.......but it climbed like a demon! I think it would be the perfect weapon for xc.
Tested one at the end of 2011 when searching for a new bike. Not the bike for me but I was looking for something different, just had a go on a whim. Actually thought it was pretty bloody excellent, fast, light and climbs astonishingly well. Comfortable to. As an all day XC ride I couldn't fault it.
I just had a demo on an Epic Carbon Comp this week. I've has a hardtail 29er but never tried a full sus.
Loved the Epic that much that when I took it back to the shop I bought one 😀
The Brain seems to work really well, climbs just as well as, if not better than, a hardtail.
Thanks for the feedback , much appreciated. The one I'm looking at isn't the carbon model but shares the same kit .
