[#5592015]

Its my own fault, but I hamfistedly managed to crack the steerer tube on my 2011 Fox 36 160mm Talas RLC forks.

So I need to decide whether to sell them as they are with the damaged steerer tube, or get them repaired .

Does anyone know how much a new crown/steerer unit is for these? I see that mojo do a kashima replacement CSU for these for £400, but is there a cheaper option?

Alternatively - does anyone know what these are likely to be worth with the damaged steerer - I wouldnt ride them like this, so I'd say they're only usefull as spares or if you're going to replace the crown/steerer.

They were otherwise in good working order, apart from the cracked steerer.

I found a crack on my 2010 36 Talas earlier in the year. Mojo had replaced the CSU's about 14 months before due to wear on a Stanton. I sent them back and they replaced them FOC!

The previous time was £360 including bushes. They sometimes come up in eBay so maybe worth keeping an eye out.

If you were to cut off the section with the crack, how long would the steerer be?

The crack is at the top of the steerer, but the steerer is cut pretty short as it is, so taking the crack off would lower the steerer by a couple of cm, which would make it too short for most I reckon, would probably take it down to 170mm or so.

Never liked the look of them, just dont trust that they are strong enough for heavy duty use. I reckon they be fine for just riding along, but wouldnt like to trust them for much more.
