Very highly praised review and pics in "what mountain bike" this month.... What do we think - an improvement? Looks pretty damn good to me.

Headline bike from the biggest player in mtb world in "gets gushing pre-season write up in mainstream bike press" shocker! (WMB have since issued a press release saying it can cure cancer and reverse the credit crunch...)

I think I'll wait till it's been tested properly by a variety of people/mags before forming an opinion - and even then it'll only be a guesstimation based on other peoples views unless I ride one myself.

It bugs the hell out of me when bikes nobody has even ridden are proclaimed as the greatest things ever. (Sending a special shout-out to the Ragley fanboys 😉 )

I think the shock arrangement is more attractive than last year's setup but the reviews I've seen have been of multi-thousand pound, high-end carbon gizmos that will never, ever be within my reach: FIVE GRAND! FOR A BIKE!!! I could, just, stretch to the sort of prices the bottom-of-the-range stumpies from last year were at, and I have had a day's lend of a Stumpy Expert from TAV cycles in Ryde that convinced me it would (sort of) be worth the nearly two grand price tag. That was a good day.
There'll be more reviews of the aluminium range later on, I suspect, and I might begin to ogle in that direction then. Actually, although it's three grand, I think the Enduro expert in MBR this month looks very jolly, with its x-wing construction, but this is really daydreaming since I'm getting married next month and any new bike is a good year away.
