[#2320855]

Went into my LBS to buy the latest and greatest 2011 Marzocchi 44 RC3 Ti (£585) but got offered some 2009 55 ata for £175.
They'd come back from the distributor after being fixed and in the mean time the lbs had sorted the old owner out with other forks.
So do i stick with my original idea of 2011 Marzocchi 44 RC3 Ti for £585
or
2009 Marzocchi 55 ATA 2nd hand fresh from service for £175?

Help.

Although these ones are cheaper than £585 you have seen, same fork as the 2011

I'm not questioning if the rc3 ti will be better - thats obvious :D, i'm questioning whether they'll be ~£300 better 🙁
Maybe if I try them out i could still sell them for £150 maybe if i didn't like them.

If the shop will provide warranty on the 55's, i'd give them a try. Its a good saving and Marzocchi may well replace the forks with newer ones if you had any issues.

yes because pre 2010 bombers are useless, nothing to do with the rc3 bit.
The previous owner probably refused to have them back.
The 2009 forks i bought were with windwave 12 weeks out of 16 weeks of me owning them, sent back 3 times before they changed them.
If you do buy them make sure you have a spare fork 😉

Ah didnt realise that they changed the travel.
I was tempted by the good price on the 2009 55 rc3 which i bought and to be fair they changed for the 2010 version after the 3rd time return, if i didnt have a spare fork at the time i would of been without a bike for 12 weeks which could of been a pain in the backside.
As rockthreegozy has mentioned they may be a cheap way to get a new set if they are coming with warrenty, but if it was me i wouldn't bother, way too much hassle!
Hope this helps!

edit:
If its more travel what about these, not much more than you were gonna pay from your lbs.

They changed the travel this year but that's all it seems and the bargain price was too much to ignore. and what's 10mm of travel anyway.
