Hello

It's new bike o'clock. Here's what you need to know I've got £2000 and I'm after a 140-150mm ' aggressive trail/all mountain bike' it needs to peddle up hill but I'd rather compromise the ups for more fun on the downs. Ideally I want a solid frame, shock, and fork combo the rest I can upgrade as parts fail. I'm willing to look at ex display and old stock to make my money go a bit further.

I've been looking at the following bikes

ex display Commencal meta am3
Trek remedy 7
Lapierre Zesty 214

Has anyone got any recommendations or suggestions at what others I should be looking at?

Zesty is a good choice, you could pick up a 2012 314 for the price of the 214.

When I was looking at a new bike a lot of reviews said the shock let the AM3 down and advised getting the AM2 as it was a great bike.

I've just spent a week riding a Remedy 7 and loved it. climbs way better than my Blur LT and felt good downhill too, on some pretty techie stuff in Spain. I'm thinking of getting one, but have one or two reservations about the shock.

I assume this makes it suitable for "aggressive trails"...?

The meta is a 2013 model that's when they switched the whole lineup to the new ctd shocks so the compromise with the am3 is the wheels and the boring paint job!

The remedy looks awesome on paper but I'm not excited enough about it maybe that will change after a test ride

I've always like zestys and now they've lost the qr on the rear end and beefed up the forks it looks like it could be a good fit for me.

I've just read a few of the reviews for the sight and every one seems to love it. One for the short list.

Those canyon's are good looking bikes the spec is right up there too.

I went through the same dilemma a few months ago and looked at some of the bikes you have mentioned but in the end went for the shorter travel Meta SL.

Though when I was looking at the longer travel it was between the Meta and Strive.

Norco sight, ohh yes..!
The sight 2 SE has a cracking spec for the money, nice looking frame, and of course pivots in the right places.
Failing that how about the stumpjumper Evo?
