[#2822857]

Toying with the idea of taking 2 bikes and a trailer from Farnborough to Barrow in Furness, doing the C2C, then back to Farnborough from Scarborough.

Right now this is just thinking out loud as the other option IS THIS
But what do you think the chances are of this? I know some train companies have rules about trailers and it might be a logistical nightmare!

Your thought please... 🙂

I'd be tempted to drop the missus and bikes etc. off at Barrow then drive to Scarborough and drop the car off and train back to Barrow

It'll take a day but you'll have the car at the end and no train faffage

It's a good thought, and one I've already considered and not ruled out..... 🙂

It's just that that's a 710 mile round trip, and leaving the car in Manchester is a 445 mile round trip..... And it feels like cheating if you know what I mean?! 🙂

Not exactly Barrow and Scarborough but give this lot a shout, they may make a detour for you or maybe drop you close by

Worth considering, thanks Uplink 🙂

To be honest, I've just checked the train prices and it's £242.40 for the 2 of us, which is silly money, so I think driving is the best option anyway!

You could do C2C in a day! These two loons did. 😀

Yeah, I could. But this is a holiday, not an endurance race! 🙂

I reckon that packhorse place will get this close to Barrow, enroute to StBees

I'd be tempted to drop the missus and bikes etc. off at Barrow then drive to Scarborough and drop the car off and train back to Barrow

Now I remember why I discounted that:

4+ hr drive to Barrow
2+ hr drive to Scarbourough from there
The 5 1/2 hours back on the train!

Sod that!

I put my bike and trailer on a LDT with no issues at all.
Book the bikes on though to reserve the space in the hold.
Trailer is in fact the permitted size allowed for luggage so should be allowed on the main carriage(subject to space)

If you choose a non peak train, you'll have plenty of room.

I'd be tempted to pick a start and destination both in Germany to be honest 🙂

Maybe an option to hire a car from Farnborough and drop it off in Barrow, then hire another car from Scarborough to Farnborough ?
