Hi.
Happy Christmas.
Looking for recommendations for a waterproof to replace my endura lumilite as its goosed.

I've a paclite for summer, so looking for a similar weight, so 2-3 layer for the rest of the year.

Should add, needs to be versatile, so pit zips are essential.

Budget around £100 ish.

Ta.

Not cycling specific but I got 2.5 (?) layer Mammut Kento jacket, when trying to locate a decent jacket with pitzips, earlier this year. Hood is a bit annoying as it does have anywhere to fold into, but I just tuck it back into the coat. Pitzips work brilliantly, so much better than my non-vented eVent jacket & though not truely packable it folds up pretty well. Go outdoor have the graphite version for £100 in store (though you may need one of their cards), I found it even cheaper from a random outdoor shop, so snapped it up & well pleased with it

Thanks.
Think I'll need to hit the shops over the next few days.

What does '2-3 layer' mean? Also, SportPursuit is a great source of end-of-line / old-season outdoor and cycling kit at approximately 50% of full retail price. Some of the mountain running-type jackets cross over to cycling use quite well.

Fwiw, 3-layer fabrics are a single thickness of fabric, which have an outer face fabric laminated to a waterproof membrane and then a liner fabric laminated to the inside of the membrane.

Two-layer ones have a face and a membrane laminated together but then - usually - an additional, separate drop liner which is sometimes mesh to protect the membrane from abrasion. So you have two separate fabrics.

And 2.5-layer has the face laminated to a waterproof membrane with the inside of the membrane protected by some sort of reinforcement usually printed onto the inside of the membrane to protect it from abrasion and again is a single thickness of fabric. I'm guessing this is what you mean maybe?

BWD has it spot on with the 'layering'

I tend to go 2.5-3 layer for winter, tied to differing weight base layer depending on the temperature.

Will check out decathlon too. Ta.

Currently just looking at a singletrack endura jacket, so good to get options.

🙂
