Currently running Maxxis Arden Race 2.2 on my Soul and they are great tyres - fast rolling and great puncture resistance.

I’d still like to retain decent rolling properties but fancy a bit more grip as I’ve lost the front wheel a few times from sliding out and the back can struggle with purchase uphill.

I’ve previously had Spec Ground Control which were pretty good, I’ve also had High Roller and Minons but they were too tractor-like for me.

So then can anyone suggest some decent 2.2 / 2.25 tubeless for me please? Terrain is mainly QECP and SDW. I will keep the Arden Race for when I do the longer stuff like the SDW in a day rides but fancy something that will be more general use but not heavy and draggy.

Thanks.

Vittoria/Geax Goma 2.25 - currently £5.99 at Planet X, which is ridiculously cheap!
I bought a couple when they were £10 a few months ago, and they go up tubeless fine, plenty of grip and relatively fast rolling.

I like a XR3 front/ ardent race rear combo for qecp, but appreciate it's not much good on the muddier stuff. Other than that, Barzo 2.25 front and rear is good, quick but grippy. Get the TNT casing version and G+ if you can find it. Not cheap, but probably discounted somewhere.

For light/skinny tyres i have to say the bontrager xr2 has served me well as a rear, paired to a beefier xr4 up front. Got a set last year on the cheap and have left them on my hardtail ever since. Used mainly on trailcentre type riding.
